Sue qualified as a family solicitor in 1991 and joined our team in 2018. She is based in our London office.
Sue advises in all aspects of family law including divorce, civil partnership dissolution, separation and financial matters. She has acted for high net worth individuals, both married and unmarried. She has an expertise in all areas of the law of children, special guardianship, Declarations of parentage and financial support for children. Sue has advised many parents in complex applications for relocation both within the UK and abroad. As a parent of teenagers Sue has a particular interest and knowledge of issues such as cyber bullying and education law and is available to give practical, child-centred legal advice around parental responsibility.
Sue has a particular interest and expertise in the issues faced by children who identify as transgender and non binary. She has a detailed knowedge of the Gender Recognition Act, gender identity law in the UK and the particular problems faced by Transgender parents both in conceiving their children, in birth registration and in the event of family breakdown.
Sue started her legal career in Manchester before moving to London in 2002. She is pragmatic and outcome-focused but is ‘not afraid to give strong advice’ (Legal 500 UK). She brings a wealth of experience to our team, striving to provide innovative and cutting-edge solutions to modern families. Sue, as with all of our team has a unique approach, doing law differently in an inclusive, modern and holistic way. Sue is a member of Resolution and is a lay member of the Church of England’s Governing Body, the General Synod. She is an active member of ‘Inclusive church’ and campaigns for a church which does not discriminate on any level. In her spare time Sue enjoys slow running, wild swimming and quiet contemplation.
