Natalie and NGA paralegal Melissa Elsworth have co-written an article published in this month’s International Family Law about the future of UK surrogacy law.
‘Are contracts and pre-birth orders the way forward for UK surrogacy?’ considers the proposals put to Parliament by Jessica Lee MP for a new legal structure for UK surrogacy. The article looks back at where the UK’s current laws came from and how they are currently working (or not working) in practice, arguing that a legal structure which supports ethical UK surrogacy and enables intended parents to be recognised as legal parents from birth is now the obvious way forward.
